Statkraft Peru recorded revenues for more than USD 35 million in the first quarter of 2016, which represents a 48% increase compared to the same period in 2015. The company, responsible for the operation of nine hydropower plants and more than 920 km of transmission lines in the country, expects to close 2016 with an invoicing of USD 135 million.
During the first quarter of 2016, Statkraft Peru recorded an EBITDA (earnings before taxes, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of USD 24.9 million, which represents an 89% increase compared to the first quarter of 2015.
These results are mainly explained by the start-up of the Cheves Hydropower Plant, a plant located between the provinces of Huaura and Oyón, in the department of Lima, and the signing of power purchase agreements and efficiency programs.
“We are very satisfied with the results obtained in the first quarter of 2016. In Statkraft our day-to-day work contributes to the economic development of the country by managing our business in an efficient and competitive manner”, remarked Juan Antonio Rozas, Country Manager of Statkraft Peru.
Statkraft Peru is part of the Statkraft Group, a leading company in hydropower internationally and Europe's largest generator of renewable energy. In Peru, the company has an effective capacity of 443.8 MW of 100% hydropower, equivalent to 5.5% of the total power production in the country. Additionally, the company holds a significant share in the transmission business in the central highlands of Peru and to the north of Lima, with the operation and maintenance of more than 920 km of transmission lines and 1050 MW of transformation capacity.
